How does Bless work?
Choose up to three creatures within range. Whenever a target makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw.
That is both offense and defense in one concentration slot — rare at 1st level.
Best Bless habits
- Cast it in round one when the party will make several attacks and face save-heavy monsters.
- Prefer targets who attack multiple times (Extra Attack martials, polearm builds).
- Include yourself if you are making weapon attacks or expect concentration saves.
Upcasting Bless
Each slot above 1st adds another target. A 3rd-level Bless covering five allies can outpace a flashy 3rd-level blast on the right turn.

Concentration reality check
If you drop Bless early, the party loses a lot of expected value. War Caster, resilient Constitution, and safe positioning matter more when Bless is your combat plan.
