Vampire Survivors: Armor Explained

Armor is Vampire Survivors’ flat damage-reduction passive. Every point makes swarms chip less, which is how greedy damage builds survive long enough to evolve.

What Armor does

Armor reduces incoming damage. On dense stages, that turns lethal grazes into survivable hits — especially when paired with recovery and Hollow Heart.

Evolution that wants Armor

Armor pairs with Lightning Ring → Thunder Loop (confirm in your collection screen). If Lightning Ring is your plan, Armor is the evolution key — see How to Evolve Weapons.

When Armor is the correct pickup

  • You’re getting clipped constantly despite decent movement
  • Your character has low Max Health
  • You need Thunder Loop and Lightning Ring is already online

When to skip it

  • You’re dying to being trapped, not to chip — take Wings first
  • A damage passive finishes a stronger evolution this minute
  • You already have heavy mitigation from character bonuses

Armor vs Hollow Heart

Hollow HeartBigger HP pool / Whip evolution

Many endgame comfort builds want both. Early on, pick the one that matches your evolution path or the way you’re dying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Armor good for beginners?

Yes. It’s straightforward and forgives positioning mistakes.

Does it replace Move Speed?

No. Armor helps when you get hit; Wings helps you not get hit. Ideal kits eventually mix them.

Should I max Armor early?

Ranks help immediately. Max it when it’s evolution-critical or when chip damage is your main death cause.
