Vampire Survivors Best Passives (Hub)

Best Vampire Survivors passives explained: Empty Tome, Spinach, Attractorb, Hollow Heart, Bracer, and which ones unlock key weapon evolutions.

Passives are half of every Vampire Survivors evolution and most of your surviving power. This hub ranks what to pick early, links deep explainers, and shows which passives unlock the evolutions that matter.

Pair this with first three evolutions and how to evolve weapons.

S-tier passives (almost every build)

Empty Tome

Empty Tome cuts cooldown. Faster everything — weapons, items, the whole screen. It also evolves Magic Wand into Holy Wand.

Spinach

Spinach is flat Might. Boring, correct, and strong on every character.

Attractorb

Attractorb is quality-of-life that becomes power: more XP and pickups means faster levels and fewer failed evolution hunts. It also enables Santa Water → La Borra.

A-tier: evolution keys and survival

Passive Best for
Hollow Heart Max HP; Whip → Bloody Tear
Bracer Projectile speed; Knife → Thousand Edge
Candelabrador Area; Axe → Death Spiral
Armor Flat damage reduction; early survival
Wings Move speed; kiting and gem chasing
Pummarola Regen; pairs with sustain builds
Tirajisú Extra revive; learning stages / bosses
Crown XP gain; snowball leveling
Duplicator Amount; multi-projectile monsters
Skull O'Maniac Curse; denser spawns for XP and chaos

How to choose on level-up

  1. Need an evolution? Take the missing key passive even if Spinach looks juicier.
  2. Already evolving? Empty Tome and Spinach beat most shiny alternatives.
  3. Dying a lot? Armor, Hollow Heart, Wings, Tirajisú before greed stats.
  4. Farming / snowball? Crown and Attractorb accelerate the mid-game.

Passive pairs worth planning

  • Hollow Heart + Whip → Bloody Tear
  • Empty Tome + Magic Wand → Holy Wand
  • Bracer + Knife → Thousand Edge
  • Candelabrador + Axe → Death Spiral
  • Attractorb + Santa Water → La Borra

Exact in-game recipes can vary with DLC and updates — treat this as a priority framework and confirm in your build screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Empty Tome always the best passive?

For most weapon-heavy builds, yes. Cooldown multiplies every other upgrade. Character kits that already attack extremely fast can value Might or Amount higher in the late game.

Should I take Skull O'Maniac early?

Usually later. Curse makes the screen denser — great once you can clear, brutal when you cannot.

Do passives matter if I never evolve?

Yes. Spinach, Empty Tome, Armor, and Wings still carry non-evolved runs. Evolutions just make the same passives do double duty.
