If you’ve been playing Vampire Survivors, you know that a huge piece to the success of your runs is the character you play. This is due, in large part, to each character’s stats, as well as their passive abilities. We’ve created a tier list to show you which are the best characters to play in Vampire Survivors based on their starting weapon, bonuses, and stats.
Vampire Survivors Character Tiers
S-Tier Characters in Vampire Survivors
To be considered an S-Tier character in Vampire Survivors, it’s essential to have solid buffs that will be helpful for the beginning and ends of runs. The characters listed here begin with weapon evolutions as well!
Mask of the Red Death
- Why Mask of the Red Death is an S-tier character in Vampire Survivors: One of the most difficult characters to unlock, Mask of the Red Death provides impressive buffs and an immediate weapon upgrade off the bat! Plus, if you read our Vampire Survivors Best Arcanas tier list, you’ll see that Mark of the Read Death (and his starting weapon), pair very well with the Slash Arcana.
- Starting weapon: Death Spiral (evolved Axe!)
- Passives:
- 100% extra movement speed
- +20% might
- 255 max health
Leda
- Why Leda is an S-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Similar to Mask of the Red Death, Leda offers a variety of passive abilities that help with DPS and survivability. In particular, Leda starts with a weapon evolution at the start.
- Starting weapon: Holy Wand (evolved Magic Wand!)
- Passives:
- -10% cooldown
- -20% movement speed
- +5% armor
- +10% area

- +1% might per level (no cap)

- Why Poppea is an A-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Poppea has a very solid kit overall, but is especially built for the end game due to her passives. Because of her passives, we recommend pursuing King Bible and Santa Water with Poppea.
- Starting weapon: Song of Mana
- Passives:
- +20% movement speed
- +1% duration per level (no cap)
Arca Ladonna

- Starting weapon: Fire Wand
- Passives:
- -5% weapon cooldown (every 10 levels, max of 15%)

- +1 amount every 20 levels until character level 60
B-Tier Characters in Vampire Survivors
Bianca Ramba
- Why Bianca is a B-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Bianca is essentially the same character as Mortaccio and Yatta Cavallo. Where she falls short, however, is with the weapon delay and damage output/potential damage.
- Starting weapon: Carréllo
- Passives:
- +1 amount every 20 levels until character level 60
Gennaro Belpaese
- Why Gennaro is a B-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Gennaro’s passive helps with all projectile weapons. Although, it doesn’t scale over time. The starting weapon is also a solid option in early and late game.
- Starting weapon: Knife
- Passives:
- +1 to all projectiles
Krochi Freetto
- Why Krochi is a B-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Krochi has a nice passive ability that allows for deep runs and a decent starting weapon.
- Starting weapon: Cross
- Passives:
- +1 revive (another at level 33)
- +30% movement speed
Imelda Belpaese
- Why Imelda is a B-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Imelda starts with a solid weapon that leads to automatic damage output. Easy to play and level up in early game.
- Starting weapon: Magic Wand
- Passives:
- +10% experience every 5 levels (30% max)

Porta Ladonna
- Why Porta is a C-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Porta’s passive allows for consistent DPS at very early game, along with a solid starting weapon.
- Starting weapon: Lightning
- Passives:
- +90% reduced cooldown (this decreases by 30% every level and is gone by level 4)
Lama Ladonna
- Why Lama is a C-tier character in Vampire Survivors: There are some beneficial passives that come with Lama, but one that forces a player to be a bit more skillful (curse).
- Starting weapon: Axe
- Passives:
- +10 max health+5% might every 10 levels (max 20%)
- +5% movement speed every 10 levels (max 20%)
- +5% curse every 10 levels (max 20%)
D-Tier Characters in Vampire Survivors

- +1 armor

- +10% projectile speed every 5 levels (max of +30%)
Christine Davain
- Why Christine Davain is a D-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Christine is on the verge of F-tier, but is actually a D-tier character primarily due to her starting weapon, Pentagram. With the recent weapon upgrade to Pentagram, this become a bit more viable but is still a detriment in the early game.
- Starting weapon: Pentagram
- Passives:
- -25% cooldown
- -35% might
- -50 max health
- +30% movement speed

- Why Giovanna is a C-tier character in Vampire Survivors: Giovanna’s passives are very solid, with no caps, but her starting weapon lets her down.
- Starting weapon: Gatti Amari

- +1% projectile speed per level (no max)
MissingNo
- Why MissingNo is a D-tier character in Vampire Survivors: MissingNo, similar to Mask of the Red Death, starts out with either Axe or Death Spiral (50/50 chance). The passives are random and can cause headaches (but are fun). Essentially, it could be fun to play and laugh about with friends, but this character can’t be heavily relied on because of the passives.
- Starting weapon: Axe or Death Spiral
- Passives:
- If Max Health is negative, MissingNo becomes invincible
- If MoveSpeed is below -100%, the controls become inverted
- If Growth is -100% or lower, MissingNo can’t gain experience
